PERRY ELLIS

At Perry Ellis Collection, one of the most exciting responsibilities I had was designing the woven shirts for the runway shows. My creative director joked about the shirts just being underpinnings, but, underpinnings or not, they play an important role in the show. I was able to play around with piecing and other unusual details (i.e. pocket shapes and button closures) that weren't usually incorporated into our commercial line. Below are photos from the Fall'07 and Spring'08 runway shows that display the "underpinnings" I designed.

A big part of my job at Perry Ellis Collection was designing woven patterns for the sportshirt category. Working in U4ia, I created and colored all the patterns you see below. My design director would come up with the initial color and concept and our merchandising team would provide us with the SKU count which I would design into. The entire design team, which included the bottoms & outerwear and knit & sweaters designers, would meet up to review our designs together so that we could make sure all the pieces of the collection worked together.
